Design Thoughts – Sidebar 11 May 2006

The sidebar is getting a little too cluttered.

&rarr Some ideas to clean it up
  • Move the Status section to another page
    • This page will also have the cocomments.com snippet
  • The About Me page will have a sidebar
    • The sidebar will contain:
      • All the feeds in the “More Me” section
      • A hcard taken from here
      • A claimID badge
  • Should the Flickr badge remain?
  • The Site Info page will also get a sidebar
    • Feedmap.net badge
    • Google pagerank
    • Who links to me
&rarr Should I pull the Posts I need to write about off the front page and into Backpack?

Site Look & Feel

Add a section on Favourite Music / Favourite Authors to the About Me page
Replace the plugin Simple Tags with the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin
Style the Technorati Tags generated by Ultimate Tag Warrior to match with the general look of the Technorati site.
Create a new page combining the Live Archive Plugin and the Tag Heatmap (Generated by Ultimate Tag Warrior)
Add breadcrumbs to the site using the Breadcrumbs plugin
(I am going to be comfortable adding this plugin to the site only after I have been posting for 6 months. I don’t think it’s required in the initial stages of the blog)
If my blog actually starts seeing some traffic (yeah, like that’s gonna happen), I am thinking of adding the WP-Online plugin and a pagerank.net badge
(The pagerank.net badge wasn’t working properly, so I’ve replaced it with a badge from a SEO site)

May 11 Time of Day—This plugin gives fuzzy times for posts such as “Early Morning”, “Lunch Time” etc. Unfortunately, it breaks the Archives :-( (Dropped)
